4/25/17 Mix Project Critique

Carson: I would have never known how complicated shot put was if Carson had not made his presentation, I liked that he had arrows indicating where to put your feet and how to hold your ball and special ways to enter and exit the arena. The one thing that I had a problem with was the way that you had presented the video content, the .mov file should have been filmed horizontally and stretched proportionately and the YouTube video should have been embedded

Trevor: Trevor's presentation was interesting, to say the least, I liked the aspect of humor that was included. The first three slides were fine, then there were some issues where pictures were stretched to fit the screen but distorted the image, there were also many grammar errors contained in the presentation. The presentation lacks uniqueness and has a lack of appealing colors and patterns, as it is one of the default templates that PowerPoint provides. The last two slides in the presentation were media files, the .mp4 file was again like Carson's: too small to view efficiently. and in addition, the video file on the last page was in a format not supported by PowerPoint and was unplayable.

Stephanie: Stephanie's PowerPoint was graphically appealing and proportionate videos, images and text. The video was instructional and overviewed the PowerPoint in video format, the display was stretched to the maximum height and width of the slide without any distortion which was nice. The video, however, is followed by the slides seen in the video, so the presentation is redundant.

Quinten: Quinten's PowerPoint was enjoyable and displayed the different types of pitches very well. The one complaint that I have was that the media files were not able to be displayed.

4/3/17 My Weekend

I went biking to Rosanna Square to meet up with a friend and buy stuff from Price Chopper. We bought Pepsi and Pringles, I also played SMITE with some friends. I went biking on the trails behind my house and biked around my neighborhood. I did not do much this weekend.

3/24/17 Spring Break

I traveled down to Lake of the Ozarks with my friends Jack, Stanley and Peter. Jack's family owns land and a lake house in Big Buffalo Cove, this was one of the many times I had attended the 'camp'. While there we stayed up late, shot shotguns and .22 rifles, played poker, sat in the hot tub, drove in an ATV, explored a junkyard, burnt trash and played "Smite" the images included catalog what we did. A link to an edited video I made will be posted later. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSIxUdiLcLA&t=45s

“Amazon’s CEO Just Demoed the World’s First Manned Bipedal Robot”

Recently at the MARS conference, Amazon’s CEO Jeff Bezos tested out a robot that comes straight out of a comic book. The robot named ‘Method 2’ clocking in at a weight of 1.5 tons and 4 meters tall, its primary directive is to be applied to situations that could be potentially too hazardous to human beings to go in unprotected. The robot was built by a South Korean tech firm named Hankook Mirae Technology. The chairman of the company, Yang Jin-Ho has a few more hoops to jump though before he can get the robot fully complete. There are currently rumors circling that it will be being used to aid cleanup in the Fukushima reactor meltdown. This new robot is clearly a massive advancement in current robot tech and even serves the purpose of helping humanity; it could be possible that this robot can work along smaller robots that search for bodies under rubble. This advancement will greatly help the field of robotics.

I do not care for sports that much, and do not care if this bracket will make sense or not, I do not intend to use this bracket.

3/8/17 Infograph Reflection

Cameron Janofsky: Nice job on this infograph, as an ex-player, it is interesting to see how the sport has grown. I had no idea that Europeans did not have that many hockey players.
Max Moltior: Good job on this infographic, I think concussions are a serious issue in the sports community and I am glad you addressed it.
Trevor Lister: I really enjoyed both of your charts, I like how the information is demonstrated through spicy visuals and accurate data.
Braden Davis: I really enjoyed your infographic, it is really cool to see the internet in numbers. I learned a lot of things that I didn't know.
Stephanie Ainsworh- I really enjoyed the colors and visuals of your infograph, it was easy to follow and made sense.

3/1/17 My Dream Business

3/1/17 Canva V.S LucidPress

I think that both of the online web apps were fairly easy to use. You could sign up through Google services without creating a separate account for the website. I found Canva more familiar however as it attempts to mirror Photoshop and other graphic design programs. Some pros for Canva is that it is easy to use and it can be practical for a artistic setting, however it does not apply well in a business setting and requires paid content to amp up production value. Some pros for LucidPress is that it can apply in both a business and artistic standpoint, it also has beautiful templates that you can use, however I feel like it would be harder to learn for someone to learn coming from something like Photoshop or Canva, it also is very formal and business oriented unlike Canva. I feel like in the end LucidPress featured the most free elements to use. Overall I like Canva more because of the Photoshop-like features and functions.

2/28/17 Infographic Response

An infographic is a piece of media that allows for easy, comfortable way of visualizing data for the consumption of the average person. The purpose of an infographic is to represent collective data through charts, statistics and text. The information collected should be presented in a format that is aesthetically pleasing and easy to understand. Things like statistics E.X: "20% of women suggest that cats are better than dogs" are best represented on an infograph, things like quotes can also be worked well into an infograph. If I were giving a presentation in class that involved facts and statistics, I would most likely use an infograph. If I were making an argumentative presentation, to make an impact on the consumer I would most likely use an infograph. The following are examples of infographs:

2/01/16 Words for Teenagers

To start, the premise of the article is inaccurate. No teen whines about what they can't do. teens go out and do things. I do believe that Teens need to grow a backbone, and that they must grow into men and women.

1/31/17 Ted Talk Reflection

I feel like the talk is right, however I feel like many people wont listen to the comments made by the talk. I believe that the digital age is going places, and that we must follow regardless of feelings. 1/30/17 Social Bookmarking CE

After reading the article I do not have a different understanding of social bookmarking, if i wanted to find something new, I go to Twitter or YouTube. If I wanted to save a page, I would bookmark  in chrome it. That is why I do not find social bookmarking beneficial where there are other options that are by far easier and more superior options. I did not feel like using Symbaloo in my online endeavors, I already have the google new tab page which does the exact same things.

1/25/17 Social Bookmarking

Social Bookmarking is the practice of sharing and cataloging sites or media in a converging setting. The purpose of social bookmarking is to easily make a spot for those to obtain useful resource sites. I personally do not use any social bookmarking tools, I would suggest that oneself would use Symbaloo for their endeavors online.

Blog Post -1/17/17 - "PREZI Reflection"

1. I would prefer to use Prezi, it is simply easier to use and looks appealing to anyone, there are many themes to choose from that satisfy everyone. You do not have to insert animations, by default it it gives you the option to teach you.

2. I feel like if you want the job done effectively you need to be using Prezi, because it is faster and easier to create a presentation that will impact your coworkers, peers or students.

3. If your workplace runs off of a Microsoft office based system, this would mean that you would most likely want to use PowerPoint more.

4. I would be more likely to use Prezi next time that I create a presentation for class or for a business
